Pearly Penile Papules

Pearly Penile Papules, often referred to as "PPP", are small white or skin colored bumps that form on the sulcus or corona, or in simple terms, on and around the head of the penis. Pearly Penile Papules are scientifically referred to as "Hirsuties Papillaris Genitalis", but the term is not widely used. These bumps do not cause irritation or pain, they cannot be popped and they are not open bumps or soars. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult a doctor immediately. Pearly Penile Papules are more popular in uncircumcised men, ages 13-30, and often go away with age. These bumps cannot be spread by sexual contact, and are completely normal. It is estimated that about 25% of all men develop a case of Pearly Penile Papules sometime during their lifetime. It is commonly said, but not medically proven, that masturbation, sex, or any friction and/or irritation you place on the head of the penis may cause Pearly Penile Papules. However, there is no medical explanation for the occurrence of Pearly Penile Papules. Although this condition is deemed "normal", it may cause some men psychological distress,  making them feel sexually and socially embarrassed.
